A Word from Father Tom
It is good to be worshipping regularly together now in Word and Sacrament.
That said, several things have come to my attention over the last few weeks in regard to our current procedures in distributing and receiving the bread when at the altar rail.
In the name of uniformity, I would ask those who prefer to have the host “intincted” (dipped) into the wine, to do so in the following manner: Upon approaching the rail and after having been given the bread by the celebrant, please hold the host in the palm of your outstretched hand. As the wine bearer approaches you, he or she will take the host from your hand and intinct it in the chalice for you. Then, he or she will either place the bread on your outstretched hand or tongue.
It has also come to my attention, that there are those who receive the host and would prefer a blessing instead of receiving the wine. Any communicant who has received one or both of the elements and still desires a blessing may wait at the altar rail with their arms crossed. Also, if there is anyone who desires prayer for a serious concern or for healing prayer with the anointing of oil, please do the same (also indicate your desire for prayer or the celebrant will just assume you desire a blessing).
Come this Sunday to be fed and blessed by our Triune God!

OUTREACH ITEMS OF THE MONTH
As Christians, we are asked to feed the hungry. Here’s how you can help:
In August, September, and October The Outreach Committee will collect and deliver food and nonfood items for the Home Sweet Home Mission, which feeds and shelters people in need. We are asking for regular-sized items for the Mission’s Bread for Life Food Coop, where the needy can shop, and large or even bulk-sized items for the Mission’s kitchen. Here’s HSH’s needs list:
FOOD: canned chicken; cooking oil; low sodium items, such as soups and veggies; canned pasta; jelly; boxed meals, such as Hamburger Helper; brown rice; bottled water; 100% juice; Glucerna
NONFOOD: toilet paper; paper towels; dish detergent; bleach or disinfectant; plain notebooks.
Thanks so much for your generosity. -The Outreach Committee
