VESTRY MEMBERS NEEDED
In the Episcopal Church, the Vestry serves as the governing body of a local parish. A vestry member acts as a “spiritual trustee,” aiding the Rector in managing and nurturing the church’s ministries and programs. Currently, three vestry members are concluding their terms, necessitating the appointment of three successors. This role is pivotal in shaping our church’s inviting culture and in fulfilling our commitment to honor the Lord with all He has entrusted to us. A vestry member should be a confirmed member of St. Matthew’s, regularly participate in mass as a communicant, and contribute to the parish’s ministry through both spiritual gifts and financial support. Those interested in joining the vestry are encouraged to speak with Father Tom.

A NEW CANON TO THE ORDINARY
Canon Mark Evans (who will be with us on Sunday, October 13th) is retiring in November of this year. A special word of thanks to Fr. Mark for his ministry to St Matthew’s and a word of congratulation as he and Sandy move up to Wisconsin to be closer to family. A New Canon to the Ordinary has been selected to replace him, and he begins his service to the Diocese of Springfield on November 15th, 2024. To read about the Rev. David Wells, click here.
