Word from Father Tom
Our Super Saturday fellowship was a smashing time together and was very well attended. Thank you to all who made it all happen.
I will be out of town for a Clergy Diocesan event from this Monday, February 13th – Wednesday, February 15th, and I will be back in the office on that following Thursday. I will only be 2 hours south of here at Toddhall Retreat Center, so if any emergencies do occur, I will be available.
Those signed up for the Informational/Inquiry class regarding St. Matthew’s history and beliefs, please take note of the updated information below in the announcement section.
Our Ash Wednesday Service of Holy Communion will be on Wednesday, February 22nd. The service will start at 6:00 PM. See the announcement regarding Shrove Tuesday below.
I look forward to tomorrow’s Men’s breakfast at 8:00 AM and worshipping with you at mass on Sunday.

MEN’S BREAKFAST
We are having a Men’s Breakfast at St. Matthew’s this Saturday (2/11/23) at 8:00 AM (note that time was incorrect in last Newsletter) . If you are available, please join us for food, fun and fellowship and bring a friend! Please let me know if you are planning to attend so that I have enough food.
CHOIR OPPORTUNITY
We would like to assemble a group to sing this Sunday. If interested, we will gather in the choir loft at 9:30 AM prior to the service. We will be singing familiar music from the hymnal. EVERYONE is welcome.
SCHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE DINNER – SAVE THE DATE: February 21
We will be having our annual Pre Lenten Pancake Dinner on Tuesday, February 21. The men will be cooking and serving starting at 5:30 PM. Bring your friends and neighbors and help us celebrate. Free will offering, come and have great fellowship.
NEW MEMBER/CONFIRMATION INQUIRY CLASS
We will begin our class on Wednesday, March 1st. A light supper will be served at 5:00 PM, and the class will begin at 5:30 pm. Anyone who comes a bit later will still eat while the class begins. We have a total of twelve people signed up. I did send out an e-mail; if you could return that correspondence to confirm your participation, that would be helpful. I estimate that about 6 of the 12 people are attending for either membership or confirmation inquiry. We will run 9 total sessions on Wednesdays (likely finishing late April or early May). Those looking to pursue membership must participate in each class or make up the class privately with Father Tom. We should have a good time together!
OUTREACH – ITEMS OF THE MONTH (February)
Let’s help The Salvation Army feed and shelter needy people this winter by donating personal hygiene items for both men and women and canned and boxed food such as: regular & travel-sized items like deodorant, shaving cream, lotions, and feminine hygiene products. Food items like hamburger helper, Ramen noodles, macaroni & cheese boxes, peanut butter, and hot sauce. Thanks for your donations! Also, after several Covid years, The Salvation Army will take gently used coats for adults. Place your donated coats in the big white box opposite the office and they’ll be delivered to The Salvation Army community center. Please, no “dress coats.” Thank you.
