St. Matthew’s Good News – 9/6/2024

This year we will be providing a “Blessing of the Animals” service for our congregation and the surrounding B-N area. While a flyer will be forthcoming, we are already planning and working toward this event. The service and the following individual blessing of each attending “beast” will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 AM under our new paved outdoor porch. We will also have treats and refreshments following the service. If you are interested in helping, please talk with either Julie Cooper or Kathy Gibson.

I hope you will give this service some thought, consideration, and prayer as we look to reach out to the unchurched all around us.

Fr. Tom

VESTRY MEMBERS NEEDED
In the Episcopal Church, the Vestry serves as the governing body of a local parish. A vestry member acts as a “spiritual trustee,” aiding the Rector in managing and nurturing the church’s ministries and programs. Currently, three vestry members are concluding their terms, necessitating the appointment of three successors. This role is pivotal in shaping our church’s inviting culture and in fulfilling our commitment to honor the Lord with all He has entrusted to us. A vestry member should be a confirmed member of St. Matthew’s, regularly participate in mass as a communicant, and contribute to the parish’s ministry through both spiritual gifts and financial support. Those interested in joining the vestry are encouraged to speak with Father Tom.

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR SEARCH
We are looking to fill our need for a part-time Office Administrator, and it has been our policy and preference to hire outside of our church membership. If you know of any potential candidates, please see the bulletin board outside of the church office or this link: Part-time Office Administrator Needed

CURRENT OFFICE HOURS
As we look for a new Office Administrator, please feel free to e-mail and call the office as usual. Emails to the office will be answered more readily, but Fr. Tom will also be checking voicemail. The general office hours will be Tuesday – Thursday from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, but it is always best to call first if you are going to stop by, as Fr. Tom’s schedule can change readily depending on need or context.
