Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir leads hymns and takes an integral part in the Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. Sunday Eucharist. Before the pandemic, the Choir would also offer two anthems most weeks, utilizing a wide variety of music from traditional to contemporary.
The Chancel Choir also prepared music for selected Feast days and Holy Week services, as well as occasional Evensong and other services. We are in the process of hiring a Choirmaster/Choir Director and are hoping to see our music ministry return to full strength.
The Chancel Choir takes the summer months off, and members are often among those offering their talents as soloists and small ensembles during the summer.
Instrumentalists
Believe it or not, church music is not restricted to voice, organ, and piano!
We welcome those who play musical instruments to play a musical offering as a prelude or anthem throughout the year.
During the choir’s summer break, soloists and small ensembles are sought and scheduled for offertory and communion anthems. In the past, these have incorporated instrumentalists as well.
In the past, our worship has been enhanced by our Bell Choir. We are hoping to be able to revive this ministry again soon.
If you have “undiscovered” musical talent you’re willing to share, please let the music staff know and become part of St. Matthew’s music ministry.
