St. Matthew’s Community Center
The St. Matthew’s Community Center has actively provided space for various addiction recovery groups (most using the 12-step program developed by Alcoholics Anonymous). St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church has partnered with these multiple support groups located in the Bloomington-Normal area. The church provides the facility and space while each recovery group is autonomous in it’s programming. We have been glad to facilitate these groups and look to continue this support for the foreseeable future.

Currently there are thirteen groups meeting in the facility. The Center hosts active meetings over thirty hours per week. Groups cover a broad category of addiction including alcohol, narcotics, cocaine, and programs for families with a member that has an addiction problem. Weekly, the programs are working with 75 to 100 people. A detailed list of the groups in the St. Matthew’s Community Center is shown below:
1 – Early Riser – NA | 5, 13 – Afternoon – NA (2 different groups) | 9 – Saturday – NA |

Typical Weekly Schedule for 2025

The St. Matthew’s Community Center is ideal for the recovery groups that we currently serve. It is located within the city limits of Bloomington, has adequate parking, and is in a secluded residential area. However, our Community Center building was built in 1928 and is now in need of many new upgrades. Discussions have begun regarding the need for renovation, but St. Matthew’s is also considering how we might use the center to reach out the the Bloomington-Normal Community in additional ways.
Please pray for us as we seek to wisely and sacrificially use this building to the glory of Jesus Christ and for the benefit of all the neigbhors that we serve in his name.
